Having chemistry with your wedding and event planner is crucial, so I thought I’d let you know a little bit about me.
How I wound up in Hilton Head –
Those who question why I moved to the Lowcountry, have probably never experienced all that Hilton Head Island has to offer. I found myself drawn to Hilton Head after visiting my sister. It was shortly after my first son was born and I decided that I wanted to raise my family with my family close by. The perfectly blended atmosphere of Spanish moss, summer sun that can be found all year long, and historic spirit of the island instantly drew me to relocate to Hilton Head.
Planning my own wedding –
Though I had planned my entire wedding on my own, my mother was the one who ran the show day of. My mother makes for the perfect host because ever since I was little she’s been planning and hosting parties. Planning comes naturally to me because it’s something that I was always surrounded with while growing up. My mother grew up in a family of nine and was constantly organizing that side of the family. My dad works in sales and loved to host dinner parties and things like that, so we were just at a point where we were very comfortable with party planning. I will say that selecting a fully staffed wedding helped us because they took our planning and coordinated along or plans but my mom definitely ran the show that day.
My favorite part of wedding planning –
Other than the wedding itself, I’d say that my favorite part of the wedding planning is the final planning meeting. It’s the last meeting we have after we’ve had all of the food tastings and made final decisions on linens and florals. It’s one of my favorite moments to have that farewell after the meeting because of the excitement in the air. The anxiety has fallen away and the relief that everything has come together is one of the best feelings because now all the bride has to do is get married and enjoy her upcoming day.
If I wasn’t an event planner and wedding coordinator –
If there ever was a twist of fate and I hadn’t become a wedding planner I believe I would have ended up as an interior designer. I love paper and linen and I’m definitely in my element when I’m being creative. I found that if I can be myself when I’m helping people see different visions and bringing them together. Even though I am prone to graphic design, it’s a little too black and white because there are so many systems to learn. I’m strong with seeing a vision, so I’d probably end up as an interior design because you have a lot of freedom with spaces and the way elements come together in a room.
Signature Kelli Fact –
The one thing I may not be known for but is definitely a unique trait, is that I always have a good stock of candy like gummy bears in my car. I’ll admit that I have a bit of a sweet tooth and gummy candy tends to avoid melting in the heat of the Hilton Head sun.
